Modesty, Trail-Blaiser
Forget Lara Croft, the Alias gal, James Bond and Indiana Jones! Here’s the one and only original ass-kicking babe whose name’s synonymous with action and adventure.
Created in the early 60s by Peter O’Donnell, Modesty Blaise is his female answer to superspy James Bond. She began as a regular comic strip heroine, first in the London Evening Standard and soon all over the world. The strip became so popular, stories continued to be created for it through the decades, to 2001.
A 007-like comic strip? In the daily papers? Yes, and pretty much the same adult-oriented violence, sexual references and such .. whoah!
Do yourself a favour. Experience the nail-biting excitement and high-quality storytelling of O’Donnell and the superb artistry from the likes of Enric Badia Romero and Jim Holdaway, in the re-release of the original comic strips, collated into graphic novel volumes, several stories per volume! So, now you don’t have to be confined to reading at the speed of one strip per day and ensuring each day you don’t miss your next copy of the papers.
